What We Do

We drive you to the edge of your art, and then beyond. We strip away your layers and reveal the deeper actor. The one who makes organic, imaginative and sometimes gut-wrenching choices that turn dimly lit acting into brilliance. We are the crucible for your artistic transformation.  We do this using the Meisner Technique, which we’ve been teaching since 1998 to some of Chicago’s top actors.    Studio Founder Kathy Scambiatterra is a direct “descendent” of the Meisner method and brings a  fiery and intuitive craft to an intimate studio of dedicated actors. This is the undiluted, real stuff, taught by acclaimed directors, actors and filmmakers who know how to bring out your best.

"I love working with actors who train with The Artistic Home.  They know how to explore a scene and take risks -- and they always find a strong emotional connection to the material."     Jeff Christian, Theatre, Film and Commercial Director
