The Artistic Home

Juno and the Paycock

Picture
Written by Sean O'Casey

Directed by John Mossman

July 29 - Aug 2 at Theater on the Lake
Winner of 1 Jeff Award for Best Supporting Actor
Winner of 4 After Dark Awards: Best Direction, Best Ensemble, Best Supporting Actor and Best Set
Opening to critical success, this rich and moving story centers on the lives of the Boyle family, eeking out a living in the tenements of 1920's Dublin. Juno supports her family, while roustabout husband Captain Boyle searches for ways to avoid work. Sometimes hilarious, and at other times tragic, playwright Sean O'Casey masterfully weaves a tale of war, hard times and family; a story that still speaks to us today.

“…electrifying performances…utterly absorbing, nearly flawless evening…” -Chicago Reader
“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED…[The Artistic Home]could easily compete with the actors of Dublin’s Abbey or Gate theaters…they do O’Casey proud.” - Chicago Sun-Times

“A memorably intense and committed production…a dose of ordinary human truth” - Chicago Tribune
“The Artistic Home…delivers a must-see treasure…For so many reasons, this is a play that should not be missed.” - Gay Chicago

“…selfless, dynamic ensemble…The most contemporary, intelligent…play in town at the moment was written by an Irish bricklayer in 1924.” - TimeOut Chicago
