Malapert Love is a modern response to the tropes, style and structure of Shakespeare’s comedies. It follows the tangled and farcical action of a group of people who have all fallen in love with the wrong person.

Reviews

Better yet, Malapert Love is full of deeply satisfying and gasp-inducing romantic moments between queer (and cisgender) characters to offset the scheming and the duels.
— - Kimzyn Campbell, Chicago Reader
“This play is nothing less than the most articulate and utterly hilarious original production I have seen since the pandemic ended.”
— Karen Topham, Chicago on Stage
Once word gets out about how much fun this play is, audiences will be flocking to the Den Theatre to forget their troubles and laugh themselves silly.”
— Colin Douglas, Chicago Theatre Review
“Ensemble member Julian Hester’s direction is a marvel of timing, visual gags, malaprops, and physical comedy. Stir in some ribaldry and scorned love with a raucous sword-fighting vagrant who huffs a turpentine and urine blend, and you have a comic winner.”
— Kathy D. Hey, Third Coast Review
