AdlerImprov Workshop
Rob Adler, Co-Head of DePaul University’s BFA Acting Program, leads this masterclass on using improvisation to unlock scripted text for stage and screen. ADLERIMPROV offers actors practical tools for making prepared material feel immediate, alive, and fully inhabited. The work helps actors deepen presence, impulse, listening, and responsiveness while staying connected to the specific demands of language, structure, and storytelling. In this masterclass, actors will apply the work directly to a prepared monologue and explore how game-based rehearsal can open up spontaneity, specificity, and truthful behavior within scripted performance. The tools are also highly applicable to auditions, self-tapes, rehearsal, and professional acting work. Actors should come prepared with a monologue (or short scene in pairs if you prefer) and be ready to work actively on their feet in a collaborative studio environment.
